Community Action, Inc. Head Start/Early Head Start (CAI HS/EHS) is federally funded by the Administration for Children and Families. The Office of Head Start provides guidance, oversight and on-going monitoring of the program.
Comprehensive services are available for children ages 0-5 and pregnant mothers and fathers. CAI HS/EHS is designed to reach low-income families however over-income families may, to a limited extent, be eligible. HS/EHS operates in nearly every country in the United States and its territories.
Children who attend CAI HS/EHS participate in a variety of educational activities that successfully prepare them for the start of kindergarten. CAI HS/EHS curriculum is aligned with the MA Early Learning Standards. Services are available for children with special needs and disabilities.
Children receive comprehensive developmental, behavioral and health and dental screenings. The children are assessed 3 times times per year to ensure that every child is responding to the curriculum and getting ready for kindergarten or transitioning from EHS to HS. Healthy meals and snacks are prepared on-site. Limited transportation services are available to parents. There are no fees or tuition costs.
CAI HS/EHS is a member of the National Head Start Association, the New England Head Start Association and the MA Head Start Association.
