What is a Family Childcare System? Family Childcare Systems are community-based networks of Family childcare Providers who offer care and education to children in a home setting, licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care (DECC). Children, families, and providers are supported by a variety of services offered by the system staff. Family Day Care systems have been an integral part of the child care delivery system in Massachusetts since 1970.
What is Family Day Care? Community Action, Inc. Family Day Care includes 40-50 subcontracted child care providers in the Greater Merrimack Valley. Providers are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. Our providers undergo an additional application, interview, and screening process in order to be considered for involvement with our agency. Family Day Care has stringent health, safety, and quality of care standards above and beyond the DECC regulations.
Commitment to Providers Family Day Care is committed to supporting our providers in their partnership with parents to provide high quality professional early care and education services which meet the social and emotional needs of all children.
Family Day Care promotes, encourages, and supports FDC providers in their pursuit of further education. It is strongly recommended that providers seek professional credentials, which include CDA, NAFCC accreditation, and college courses along with workshops and seminars. The FDC program offers free, regular training sessions to system providers, including CPR and First Aid, behavior management techniques, music and movement, creative curriculum ideas, nutrition for young children, as well as other subjects related to their work with children.
