Family Day Care
Community Action, Inc. Family Day Care includes 40-50
subcontracted child care providers in the Greater Merrimack Valley. Providers
are licensed by the Massachusetts Office of ChildCare Services. Our providers
undergo an additional application, interview, and screening process in order to
be considered for involvement with our agency. Family Day Care has stringent
health, safety, and quality of care standards above and beyond the OCCS
regulations.
Haverhill Family Network (HFN)
HFN is a program
serving all Haverhill/Bradford families with children ages birth through three.
HFN provides programs and services that are child centered and family focused.
The purpose of HFN is to help parents access the resources and support they need
to be better parents. Parents assist in planning and implementing programs that
meet their family’s needs.
Head Start
Head Start is a Federal program for preschool children
from low-income families. The Head Start program is operated by local non-profit
organizations in almost every county in the country. Children who attend Head
Start participate in a variety of educational activities. They also receive free
medical and dental care, have healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy playing
indoors and outdoors in a safe setting. Head Start helps all children succeed.
Services are offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities.
Transportation
The Family Day Care Transportation Program, which is
based out of Haverhill, provides daily, round-trip transportation for children
enrolled in Community Action, Inc.’s Family Day Care program.
Women, Infants & Children (WIC)
The Massachusetts Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
Nutrition Program provides nutrition and health education and other services
free of charge to Massachusetts families who qualify. Participants receive
checks for milk, cheese, 100% fruit juices, cereals, infant formula, peanut
butter, carrots, tuna, dried beans, and eggs. The WIC Program collaborates with
the U.S. Department of Food and Agriculture to provide WIC participants
with coupons, redeemable at Farmers’ Markets, for fresh fruits and vegetables
during the summer months.
